The Easiest Homemade Play Dough Ever

This homemade play dough recipe is super easy to make and doesn't require you to cook it. I sifted through several different recipes on Pinterest and, for the most part, they all included odd ingredients that I didn't have in my kitchen. Some recipes even wanted me to put it on the stove. Who has time for that!? I opted for the easiest recipe I could find and made a couple of enhancements.
My daughter is 14 months old, so I decided to go with a homemade play dough recipe because I never know if she's going to stick something in her mouth. We own the Play-doh that you can buy in the store and while it says "non-toxic" I'd rather not take the chance of her accidentally eating it. We'll just save it until she's completely over the "everything-goes-in-the-mouth" phase. This recipe is so easy to make, and she absolutely loves playing with it!
1 cup of flour
1/4 cup of salt
1/2 TBSP olive oil (or vegetable oil)
1/2 cup of warm water
2-3 drops of edible food coloring (I use this brand)

1. Mix flour and salt together
2. Add oil and food coloring to the water
3. Add the water to the flour mixture and knead it with your hands.

My daughter plays with this play dough at least once a week. After she's done playing with it, I store it in an airtight container to play with again. If it starts to feel dry, I just add a tiny bit of water and knead it until it's the right consistency.
If you have a toddler who eats everything or you're stuck inside on a rainy day, you should definitely try this recipe!
